Choose the rug that’s right for you
Numerous styles, shapes and sizes, and materials of rugs abound in the market today, that’s why its getting harder and harder and more and more complicated to choose the perfect rug for different parts of your home. There are a lot of factors that must be considered in choosing rugs, and if you want to make a better informed decision, you should do your home work and find out everything you can about these things.
First, you should choose a rug design that perfectly goes with the overall look of your home. As a home maker with a more discriminating taste, you cannot afford to have anything out of place: remember that you’ll be judged by the way your house looks. Light colored rugs perfectly complement a fresh, lively atmosphere, while rugs with darker tones will more likely lend and air of sophistication and refinement. You can also get culturally inspired designs for your area rugs; Persian and Oriental rugs have been all the rave in recent years and should sufficiently add character and depth to your once bleak rooms and walls.
Of course the type of material your rugs is made of should also play a very crucial role in your purchase decision. Rugs of different materials have distinct benefits and disadvantages. Rugs made of natural fibers like cotton or wool tend to be more expensive than those made of synthetic materials. Cotton rugs are generally softer, and wool rugs are dirt and dust resistant. Synthetic raw materials, on the other hand, can be mostly found in cheap rugs offered by big retail chains. But that is not to say that synthetic rugs are of questionable quality; on the contrary, rugs made of nylon, olefin, or polyester are very durable and easier to clean than their natural counterparts because the fibers are non porous.
